From Silent Homes to Stitching Hubs: A Journey of Courage and Change

At Avaada Foundation, we believe that true empowerment begins with opportunity — the opportunity to learn, to earn, and to lead. One of our most heartening initiatives has been transforming the lives of 40 women from the remote villages of Ladwan and Kasai Deharia in Agar-Malwa district, Madhya Pradesh, by nurturing their skills and supporting them on the path to entrepreneurship.

Through our dedicated training programme at Avaada Navkiran Stitching centre women from the Malwa region were trained in professional stitching techniques, including the making of industrial shirts, pants, and other garments. Beyond training, the women were formally certified under NRLM, strengthening their credibility and access to livelihood opportunities. Recognising the importance of tools, Avaada Foundation provided industrial stitching machines to all 40 women, enabling them to convert their skills into sustainable income sources. In addition, 15 tailor model machines were donated in Bharukheera, Rajasthan, further extending skill-based livelihood support.

These women, once housewives with limited means and no vision beyond their homes, are now leading stitching groups, managing purchase orders, and meeting industry requirements with confidence and professionalism. By linking them with the shirt manufacturing industry in Indore, doors have opened for them to take commercial orders, manage dispatches, and experience the true essence of entrepreneurship.

One of the most rewarding outcomes of this journey is that these women are now working with Avaada Foundation itself — producing uniforms for Foundation-led distribution drives. They consistently deliver high-quality stitched garments on time, fulfilling real market orders and building a reputation as dependable and skilled entrepreneurs.

This initiative goes far beyond stitching garments. It is about stitching together confidence, self-worth, and independence. These women are now earning regular incomes, supporting their families, and inspiring others within their communities to aspire for economic self-reliance.

From housewives to entrepreneurs — their journey stands as a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when determination is met with the right support and opportunity.
