Avaada Foundation has been doing every bit to empower women—not just by teaching skills, but by giving them confidence, dignity, income and the tools to succeed.
We have been training thousands of women in stitching and continue to equip them with the means to turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods. From basic stitching on traditional machines to training on modern electric and industrial machines, we connect women with opportunities, industries and government orders. Wherever possible, we also donate stitching machines to women, so that their learning can become a source of income.
We have been providing crochet training to women, helping them create trendy, modern and marketable products. But our support does not stop at training—we also help them sell their creations by setting up stalls at various events and locations, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talent, reach customers and earn an income from their own products. From stitching and crochet to modern potli bags and other handmade products, we are helping women turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods.
To date, thousands of women and girls have benefited from Avaada Foundation’s efforts, gaining skills, confidence, opportunities and the courage to dream of becoming financially independent.
In Jayapur, a Prime Minister’s Adopted Village, our knitting centre has empowered 75+ women, who have been earning for the past 12 years and have become financially independent.
From the tribal villages of Sonbhadra—Chichlik, Khodella, Basuhari and Argud—to the desert villages of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and many other locations, our journey is about reaching women where opportunities rarely reach them. We train and employ women as teachers, centre managers, community mobilisers, computer trainers and stitching trainers. We also train women in kitchen gardening, helping women create sustainable sources of income.
Our work goes beyond livelihoods. We conduct menstrual hygiene workshops and provide sanitary and washable sanitary pads, sarees, sweaters, helping women live with greater awareness, confidence and dignity.
And we believe in empowering the next generation of girls too. For the past three years, Avaada Foundation has supported the Under-17 and Under-19 girls’ cricket teams of Badnu, Rajasthan. This support has helped five girls reach the national level, while three have been selected for net bowling, and around 100 girls have taken up cricket as a passion.
For us, women’s empowerment is not just about teaching a skill. It is about giving a woman the confidence, tools and opportunity to earn, stand on her own feet, earn her place in her family and society, and inspire the generation that follows.
