Beyond Power Generation: Lighting Homes, Dreams, and Futures in Shirdhane, Maharashtra

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment associated with the 850 MW MSEDCL Hybrid Solar Power Project, Avaada Foundation continues to drive rural development in Shirdhane village through education, healthcare, agriculture, women empowerment, skill development, and community welfare initiatives.

In education, we distributed 350 school bags, established a free Junior Coaching Centre benefiting 65 children, renovated classrooms, constructed gender segregated toilets and created virtual learning facilities for students from Classes 5–10. For the past six months, we have been providing academic coaching and computer education to nearly 450 students. We also established a computer centre with 15 systems, enabling 150 students to gain digital skills and build confidence for future opportunities. To support school-going children, we distributed bicycles to 10 students travelling long distances and sponsored the education of two orphaned children.

Recognising the importance of agriculture, we distributed high-quality maize, cotton, and millet seeds to 24 farmers, helping improve crop productivity and strengthen rural livelihoods.

To nurture aspirations, we equipped the Youth Study Centre with competitive examination resources, a laptop, and a printer, while also developing a sports ground and 400-metre running track for youth preparing for defence and police recruitment. Cultural and educational programmes, including Diwali celebrations, Gita Jayanti, Children’s Day activities, motivational sessions, educational tours to planetarium built by Avaada Foundation in Madhya Pradesh, and a 20-day long Summer Camp, have enriched the lives of hundreds of students.

For women’s empowerment, we established and continue to operate a stitching centre benefiting 40 women and distributed sarees and stitched suits to 850 tribal and widow women.

Healthcare remains a key priority. Our fully equipped 24×7 Force One Ambulance, stationed in the village with trained emergency personnel, has become a vital support system for residents. We also conduct blood donation drives, distribute winter blankets, and provide monthly ration, medicine, and essential monthly  support to 30 vulnerable individuals.

Through these initiatives, Avaada Foundation continues to ensure that the benefits of development reach every family in Shirdhane.
