Nav Kiran Stitching Centres: Threads of Empowerment, Stories of Change

For countless women across rural and semi-urban India, a stitching machine is far more than a tool—it is a gateway to dignity, independence, and renewed self-belief. Through the Nav Kiran Stitching Centres, Avaada has enabled women to build sustainable livelihoods, strengthen their families, and step forward with confidence.

Over the years, these centres have quietly touched lives across Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Manipur, and beyond. From long-running initiatives like Jayapur & Nagepur in Varanasi, which empowered nearly 480 women, to centres in remote and underserved regions, each location carries its own story of transformation.

Women trained at Nav Kiran centres have not only learned stitching but have also revived local crafts, gained industry-relevant skills, and become earners and decision-makers within their households. While some centres were discontinued due to changing circumstances, their impact lives on—in the confidence built, the skills acquired, and the journeys set in motion. In several locations, 40 industrial sewing machines and 15 tailor-model machines were donated to ensure continuity of livelihoods.
