From Skills to Financial Independence

At Avaada Foundation, we believe empowering a woman transforms an entire family and inspires the next generation. Across India, we create pathways for women and girls to learn, earn, lead and dream bigger.Through our flagship Avaada Navkiran Stitching Centres, we have skilled and upskilled around 15,000 women and girls in basic and advanced stitching using modern electric and industrial machines. We train them to make garments, designer wear, bags, mats, potlis and other products, provide certification and connect them with industries, government orders and markets. We have also provided 40 industrial sewing machines and numerous tailor-model machines to help women start their own enterprises. We continuously introduce market-relevant skills such as crochet, beauty and makeup, knitting, diya making, jute products and other vocational courses, and help women sell their products through stalls and market linkages.

In collaboration with a leading telecom company, we have also enabled homemakers to work from home and earn with minimal training. We employ women as teachers, computer and stitching trainers, centre managers, field staff and community mobilisers, helping them become role models within their own communities.

Educating Her, Opening New Possibilities

Across our computer centres, digital learning centres, tuition centres and Avaada Community Development Centres, around 60% of enrolment is female. Even married women and homemakers are returning to learning, joining computer and education programmes to improve their skills and pursue better jobs.

We also work to keep girls in school. We renovate and construct school spaces, add classrooms, safe drinking water and gender-segregated toilets, provide school bags, learning materials, bicycles and buses, and improve overall learning environments. These interventions help increase girls’ enrolment and attendance and reduce the risk of dropout. More than 60% of our scholarship beneficiaries are girls, and women and girls demonstrate a strong success rate of around 60% across our education and skilling interventions.

Most importantly, we are helping change the question from “What will I do after studying?” to “What do I want to become?” Through education, scholarships, digital skills, mentorship, competitive-exam support and career opportunities, girls can now see a clearer pathway towards employment and independence.

Strengthening Livelihoods, Health and Dignity

We empower rural women beyond vocational training. Through kitchen gardening, agricultural training, exposure visits, seeds, practical guidance and veterinary camps, we strengthen nutrition, household incomes and rural livelihoods.

We also conduct menstrual hygiene and self-defence workshops, provide sanitary and washable sanitary pads, install sanitary-napkin vending machines in schools, and distribute essential support such as sarees and sweaters. These interventions help women and adolescent girls live with greater health, safety, awareness and dignity.
